Hartlepool College of Further Education has used its Hartlepool Sporting Association project to bring together an exciting opportunity for students to progress into a high quality coaching environment whilst maintaining their education. The sports academies at HCFE are a top class educational and sporting programme that will give the individual all the training and support needed to fulfil their potential academically and athletically. September 2009 witnessed the launch of the first two sports academies, in Football and Basketball. Coaches Lee Davie (Basketball) and Ian Clark (Football) bring their vast coaching experience to head up the academies in the pursuit of achieving the shared mission statement of ‘Education and Health through Sport’. Further academies are expected for September 2010 in the areas of Table Tennis and Rugby.
