Launched in October 2009 the Hartlepool Sporting Association (HSA) was the first of its kind, an innovative and exciting umbrella sports organisation combining education and sport. With a specially selected group of six community sports clubs, determined by their quality standards and commitment to best practice, and Hartlepool College of Further Education the HSA set about to increase participation, improve coaching quality, increase the number of gifted and talented athletes and through sharing best practice create safe and enjoyable environments for sport to take place.
The HSA has continued in its original format but with significant success it has grown in size and resource.
Hartlepool College of Further Education, 12 community sports clubs and the town's only professional sports club, Hartlepool United FC, make up the membership of the association and between help the HSA influence over 3000 sports people across Hartlepool town.
Shortly after the launch of the association in 2009 Hartlepool College further invested in sport, in this instance performance level sport, through the creation of sporting academies. Each of the four academies has special links to community sport and plays their part in the sports continuum of the sporting landscape of Hartlepool. Student athletes accessing these academies benefit from the best in sports coaching, fitness and nutritional advice, physiotherapy care and student support.
The HSA has had and will continue to have success in coach development, athletic improvement, club development and increasing participation levels. If you want to be part of the HSA please contact Shaun or one of the team.

Grant 1 - Club Development Fund
The club development fund will be used to support member clubs in their developments as we understand that with an increase in participation comes an increase in financial needs. The club development fund will help with start up costs for new teams, affiliation to leagues, new kits and better training equipment.
Grant 2 - Gifted and Talented Fund
The gifted and talented fund will help athletes from member clubs in their pursuit of excellence. Playing sport at a national and international level brings with it extra costs for travel and accommodation. The gifted and talented fund aims to support each athlete to make such opportunities more accessible.
Grant 3 - Club to School/College Links Fund
This fund is intended to offer financial support any club that wishes to establish and further strengthen the college to club links in order to increase participation in sport. Examples of how this fund could be used would be finance to support school/college taster sessions linked to the specific club development plan.
To apply for any of the funding options above you will need to fill out the appropriate application form. Applications forms can be found by clicking here
